Mitigating methane emissions from natural sources.
We develop technology to mitigate methane emissions, particularly from wetlands and lakes.

THE CHALLENGE
Methane is the second most important gas causing global warming.
Because methane lifetime is about a decade, many scientists and policymakers prioritize its mitigation. While mitigating anthropogenic sources of atmospheric methane is important, wetlands are the single largest global source of atmospheric methane emissions. (fn1) Moreover, warming-induced feedback could significantly amplify future warming — by as much as 0.4°C by 2100 — which "most climate models do not yet represent". (fn2)
Warming → more wetland methane → greater radiative forcing → more warming
WHAT WE DO
Accelerate methane oxidation. Without producing ozone. Without lowering water levels.
Nature already oxidizes methane in the atmosphere. But it takes about a decade to remove methane. We develop technology to accelerate such removal by orders of magnitude. Without increasing ozone above ambient levels. Without decreasing water table. Verifiable and additional removal.
